Neighborhood Parents Network Kick-Off Party

Neighborhood Parents Network of Chicago (NPN) starts its 30th year with a free 30th Anniversary Kick-Off Party for all ages Saturday, March 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lil' Kickers, ChiTown Sports, 2343 S. Throop Street.
The party will feature family fun including Lil' Kickers soccer classes, eco-crafts with Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, pretend camping and nature-themed story time with REI, button creations with Flourish Studios, silly jumping in the inflatable's room, 30th birthday cake by Dairy Queen, great snacks from Lifeway-Kefir, face painting, snacks and raffle prizes.

Small Business Improvement Fund business luncheon

The Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce and Ravenswood Community Council are co-sponsoring a third business luncheon on Thursday, March 18, at Tiztal Cafe (4631 N. Clark St.) for a presentation of the City's Small Business Improvement Fund Program (SBIF).
Join us for lunch and a presentation describing the city's SBIF Program by staff from the SomerCor 504 consulting firm which was retained by the city to administer this grant program.
The City of Chicago offers commercial property and business owners in eligible tax increment financing(TIF) districts reimbursement for approved building improvements through the Small Business Improvement Fund Program.
Grants ranging from $50,000 - $150,000 are available to eligible applicants for interior and exterior building improvements.
Cost is $15 for RCC and Ravenswood Chamber members and $25 for non-members.

Spring Forward benefit for Ravenswood Elementary School

The 2nd annual Spring Foward gala and silent auction to benefit the Ravenswood Elementary School will be held on Saturday, March 20, at the Dank Haus (4740 N. Western Ave.).
Ravenswood Elementary is a Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Cluster School, located at 4332 N. Paulina Street. It is recognized as one of the top 25-percent of all Chicago Public schools including all magnet, magnet cluster, special enrollment and high school in Chicago.
Guests will be able to enjoy student performances, marvel at art in the student art gallery and witness the energy and enthusiasm for the arts that drive the school community.
At the event, there will be food, beverages, live music by the Peter Lerner Trio and auction items including a guided kayaking trip on Chicago's lakefront, a weekend in New York, Cubs ticket packages (including on Murphy's rooftop), an evening with Sun-Times columnist Dave Hoekstra, student art work and many gift certificates to local restaurants, salons and shops.
Tickets are $65 per person.
At the inagural event last year, the school community raised almost $21,000. This year the goal is to raise $25,000 to help support full-time art and restore the full-time music teacher position at Ravenswood School.

Ravenswood Community Council Raffle Fundraiser
Thursday 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Ravenswood Community Council has worked hard for the past 50-plus years to create a better Ravenswood community and our first fundraiser of the year will be a great kick-off to 2010. RCC is having a spring raffle with a chance to win prizes and help the organization continue its work in the community.
Tickets are $30 a piece or four for $100.
All proceeds will fund the important work done by RCC.
RCC runs several programs to help the community, including free home repairs for seniors, an emergency cell phone program and administering the Greater Ravenswood Special Service Area #31, which provides sidewalk cleaning, snow removal, holiday decorations, landscaping and other services. RCC also serves as a host and provides support for other organizations, such as The Greening of Ravenswood and the Ravenswood ArtWalk.
Come join us in watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox open the 2010 season with their first week of action as we will hold the drawing on Thursday, April 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Claddagh Ring Pub, 2306 W. Foster (Cash Bar available).
